Soap, water, or towels are NOT required with Safe4 Hand Sanitizer. Simply squeeze a small amount of hand sanitizer into the palm of your hand then rub all over hands until they are dry to disinfect
We are all aware of the importance of the routine use of an effective disinfectant and that it is vital during the changeovers of pets using the same enclosure to prevent cross infection.
We have all also heard of MRSA* and how it spreads from person to person by cross infection. MRSA has highlighted how infection can spread from surviving harmlessly on the skin of carers, hospital visitors and the patient's surroundings until brought into contact with vulnerable individuals.
In the same way you may believe you have an effective disinfection regime however, carers and visitors could be bringing harmful bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella spp and MRSA from outside into contact with those in your care. They then spread the bacteria from one pet to another whilst handling them or even in their surroundings. Cross infection can also happen from human to pet and pet to human especially in a 'petting' situation.
The most effective way to reduce the risk of cross infection is by ensuring that carers and visitors sanitize their hands when they arrive before coming into contact with and between individual pets. This policy has now been adopted in all areas of human healthcare.
